Welcome the fall with the 2nd annual Kayak, BBQ and Blues Festival held at Hub Stacey's at Galvez Landing. The festivities will kick off with human-powered boat races where athletes will compete for over $5,000 in cash prizes! In addition to the races, enjoy live blues music, arts & crafts, finger-licking good barbeque, flyboarding demonstrations and a grand firewords display to end the night.

The cost for registration in advance is $20 for the 2 mile course and $40 for the 4 mile course. Registration will be an additional $5 the day of the event. Military registrants will receive a 25% discount. Do you think you have what it takes to win the Battle of the Paddle? Sign up today >

Our 1st annual Kayak, BBQ and Blues Festival was a huge success and featured kayak and paddleboard races, a BBQ cookoff, live music, fireworks and even a Flyboarding demonstration. Here are the highlights.

Fireworks and flyboarding demonstration

The event also included a Flyboard demonstration. "Flyboarding" has taken the watersports world by storm since 2011, when it was developed in France. Participants use a jet ski to push water through a hose and out the base of a device strapped to the Flyboarder's feet, allowing them to fly through the air in Ironman fashion or dive through the water like a dolphin. If that weren't exciting enough, this year's demonstration was performed at night, using a Flyboarder in an LED suit.

The grand finale was a fireworks show of spectacular proportions. The show was produced by Pyrotecnico, the powerhouse behind such fantastic events as the Orange Bowl and Colonial Williamsburg's Grand Illumination.
